Artisans Vignerons de Naoussa Xinomavro Naoussa 2022

Macedonia, Greece (75 cL)

A deep, distinctive Xinomavro, balancing ripe cherry with freshness and fine-grained tannins.

A deeper expression of Xinomavro, balancing cherry, dried tomato, black tea and fine, persistent tannins.

This cuvée speaks more directly to the identity of Naoussa and to the classic character of Xinomavro. The certified-organic vines average around 30 years of age and are planted on the hillsides of the region. The nose brings together ripe cherry, dried tomato and olive with layers of sage, dried herbs and red fruit.

The palate is more structured and complex than Skyphos. Bright acidity provides a clear line of tension, while the tannins are substantial yet precise, giving the wine depth without harshness. With air, notes of black tea, oregano, cherry stone and a subtle balsamic nuance emerge. The finish is long, fresh and savoury.

The grapes undergo around 25 days of maceration and fermentation with indigenous yeasts. The wine is then aged for twelve months in 500-litre used oak barrels. The longer ageing brings greater depth and complexity while preserving the freshness and distinctive aromatic character of Xinomavro.

Artisans Vignerons de Naoussa is a collective of growers united by a shared commitment to one of Northern Greece’s defining grape varieties: Xinomavro. In the hills around Naoussa, they work certified-organic vineyards with a hands-off approach that places the focus on healthy soils, careful farming and the natural character of the fruit.
